How to store handmade hard candy

A few practical habits can help keep your sweets looking their best.

← Back to the journal

Keep it cool and dry

Store candy in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Humidity can make hard candy sticky; a kitchen counter near the stove is not ideal.

Keep pieces protected

Leave individually wrapped pieces in their wrapping until you are ready to enjoy them. If storing unwrapped pieces, use a clean airtight container and keep different varieties separated.

Use your judgment

Storage needs and freshness vary. Ask about your particular order, and do not eat candy that looks or smells unusual. Keep hard candy out of reach of young children because it can pose a choking hazard.
